hello ladies:
i like to have a desert at night, but i'd like to try to cut down on the fat/calories of this indulgence. right now it is ice cream or cookies and i guess my main problem is portion control, although i am sure i can do better than eating ice cream at night, nutritionwise. any specific suggestions for what to eat (ie brand names...) i can't do sugar substitutes, so that is a limitation. |

I thrive on those 100 calorie pack snacks. There are a ton of different flavors now - cookies, crackers, muffins, etc. so there is something for whatever snack-mood I'm in.
...sometimes I even eat two packets, but it's still less than eating a spoonful of icecream or a half a box of Girl Scout cookies. The Snackwell cookies are pretty decent too. My sister says they don't have that much flavor though. To each her own though. |

One thing I do is get fresh (not canned) pineapple slices. Mix up some honey and a little cayenne pepper. Drizzle it on the pineapple and grill them. Best on a real grill, but George Foreman works great. Garnish with fresh mint and it's delicious. (Martha Stewart recipe -- http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/grilled-pineapple-with-coconut-sorbet)
Otherwise, I sometimes have two Hershey's kisses. And in the summer, fresh blueberries or strawberries or raspberries. Can't get enough of those.

I buy devil's food Jello pudding at 100 calories a pop.
Trader Joe's sells tiny tofu ice cream sandwiches, they are just big enough to satisfy me and are only 100 calories. A glass of vanilla soy milk, also 80 calories or so, low low fat. Ian's 100 calorie vanilla wafer snack packs sold at Whole Foods. Freeze dried blueberries or cherries from Whole Foods, Freeze dried bananas from Whole Foods. If all else fails I have a bowl of Kashi Mighty Bites. |

I used to live in SF - and to satisfy my sweet tooth I would go to my local Sees Candy shop and purchase 1 chocolate.
I assumed that the total calories / fat from 1 good chocolate that was SOOO yummy was less than a bunch of average cookies. |
| Skinny Cow Ice cream sandwiches |

| Now that it is getting warmer the fruit popsicles from either Trader Joes or Whole Foods are great. I think they are about 70 calories and really tasty. Plus they take a while to eat. |
| When I want a healthy sweet, I eat dates, figs, jumbo raisins, or dried cherries. Natural, has fiber, and no fat. |
