I keep getting a red, itch rash on my face around my nose and eyes. Sometimes it's around my neck too. I went to a dermatologist who said it was dermatitis and I got a prescription hydrocortisone cream and a prescription allergy medicine. These things help but it still keeps coming back. Today, the skin around my nose is bright red. I look ridiculous.
Did anyone else have something like this? Should I see an allergist? Thanks. |
| It's allergic. Which is to say, it's autoimmune. GL |

Would get assessed for lupus.
That or something you are using - face cream, soap, detergent, fabric softener, zit cream, face towelettes, etc., which is more likely. Have you eliminated possible allergens? |

Get a new dermatologist! A friend used hydrocortisone on her face, suggested by an allergist, and it gave her perioral dermatitis = months of misery.
Not all doctors are equal in skill, unfortunately. |
| Ask about roseacea. |
| Consider giving up fluoride |

I had something similar on chin, around nose, between eyes for YEARS. Dermatologists said it was sebhorrheic dermatitis and prescribed steroid creams and antibiotics, both of which helped a little for a little while, but that was all. Finally one "prescribed" Cerave face wash and it worked. Red itchy rash finally went away and has been gone for several years.
Cerave (use the kind for dry skin, not oily) is at most pharmacies and is on the shelves, not prescription, so I think it's worth a try. |
Lupus was my first thought, too. The dermatologist should order blood tests if the problem persists; there could be a systemic problem causing the problem. |
