Front door choice - classic red brick colonial

Anonymous
I'm renovating a classic red brick colonial which will be really beautiful when I'm done. What color front door? I know classic choices are red or black. I am not a fan of red, but think shiny black is ok. Contractor is encouraging black stained natural wood, but I'm unsure about that since I've never seen the combination of black stain + red brick to know how it will look. Can anyone who has seen that combo comment on how it looks? Any other suggestions?

I like the black stained wood, or a gloss black paint.

Drive or walk around a neighborhood with a lot of classic red brick colonials and see what appeals to you.

AU Park, Chevy Chase DC are 2 where you will see a lot in a little bit of time.

We went with a dark blue and lighter blue shutters after watching a lot of episodes of curb appeal and walking and seeing what we really liked.

We have a red brick house and we chose a dark, glossy gray. We chose a color that was in the brick.

We also bought samples and tried them out before we took the door down and painted it.
