I bought a bag of green lentils, and now I need a recipe. I know my kids' first reaction will be "Yuck! I'm not eating that!" so I'm looking for the most kid-friendly recipe as a gateway into the world of lentils. Maybe something with lots of bacon? Or coconut milk? I'm not too worried about finding the healthiest lentil recipe out there ... I just want to cross the bridge of thinking that lentils are potentially good. I personally love them but have not had success convincing the rest of the household.
(FWIW, two of the kids really like beans, and one hates everything like that.) |

I have a recipe I love that is basically sautéed onion and carrots and garlic tossed with cooked green lentils with thyme and a vinaigrette. You can eat it warm or cold.
DH loves it--serve with cheese and baguette and a big glass of white wine! |
| Ina Garten's sausage + lentil soup. |
| We eat lentils all the time. Mostly in soups or Dahl. |
| I don't know. I'm and adult and think they are gross. Had them all the time growing up. Whatever you can do to drown the strong flavor. |
| I eat them in winter with bratwurst as the flavoring. |
