Why is my a/c cycling on and off every five minutes?

Repair folks coming tomorrow but in the mean time...any ideas?

I am home with a six week old baby and trying to think of options.

This can happen a few different ways, but the most common one is that there is a clog in the pipe or the system is otherwise working too hard, causing water to accumulate in the pan, lifting a float and turning off the machine. Often times a thorough cleaning and then resetting the fuse will resolve the problem. If you need a temporary solution replace the filter, so the system does not need to work as hard.

Also possible if pipe from compressor is frozen. Might just need new insulation.

This happened when my DH put the filter in the wrong way.

turn it off. Let it rest. Turn back on. May be frozen which will need to be addressed but you can get a little more work out of it in the meantime by unfreezing.

Yep, was going to say to replace the filter. It might be really dirty which strains the system.
