Area Rugs

Besides the usual places - pottery barn, Wayfair, Macys, etc.

Where can you buy really nice, large area rugs without breaking the bank?

If you have bought a large area rug online and love it, where did you get it and what brand was it?

I've been looking online for a while now and it's impossible to tell the quality of a rug from looking at an image of the design online.

We need something around 9x12 in a room with pale yellow walls, dark wood floors and a navy sofa, so I was thinking of something on the lighter side (but that might camouflage dirt from dog and child) and it's like sandpaper.

overstock or homedecorators--you can tell a lot from the reviews.

Also Target has a lot more online than they do in stores. Our dining room rug is from there and is really nicer than you'd expect.

If you need 9 x 12, it is pretty reasonable to get a carpet bound, otherwise a good rug will be at least $700-800.

Also check out West Elm.

LL Bean has some really nice rugs. I have also been very pleased with our Wayfair rug and it might fit what you describe really nicely. The pattern has been very kid and pet friendly:

I did get a pad underneath it but the rug itself is very thick and comfortable. it did shed a bit at first when I vacuumed but many wool rugs do, no big deal.

We have been very happy with a few we bought from RUGS USA. They always have a sale going. I would not buy one without having at least 70% off.

Also, I second Target and even would add Walmart. The online selection is really big and the prices are very affordable. For something you may want to or even need to change out in a couple of years, they definitely work!

World Market and Target (online). Also Home Goods!

I got a decent area rug from Home Depot actually It was cheap and has a nice pattern, although it's not the typical soft rug that I would have preferred. I bought a prettier one from Lazy Boy when I bought my couch.

+1 for Rugs USA. I've bought several 100% wool rugs there and have been very pleased with the quality. During the last 70% off sale I got a 8x10 wool area rug for around $200. We have cats and a toddler and the rug looks great and has held up well.

Overstock. I bought this and I love it. Looks great, wears like iron.

Costco but they only have them one or two times a year. Great deal though. Homegoods has good ones too.

If you get down toward Richmond at all, there's a store called At Home (formerly Garden Ridge) you have to check out. Awesome prices on rugs. You have to be choosy about which ones look good, but their selection and prices are unbeatable. It's basically a store the size of a Home Depot filled with every decor item you could ever think of. It's amazing. Worth the drive to me if you live NoVa and have the time.
