Why doesn't someone start a cancer smelling dog screener?

Obviously this would not be full-proof, but for those of us avoiders, it would be a first step. I would happily pay for a dog to smell me and if the dog detected cancer I would absolutely look into that. If the dog didn't detect anything I'd still get the recommended screenings. Maybe the dog could save some of us from too many CT scans?

There are cancer sniffing dogs. They can accurately detect thyroid, breast, ovarian, prostate cancer, and others.

Yes, I know that, but as far as I know I can't go to my doctor and get a referral for a dog smelling me. Where can I go to get a trained dog to smell me?

Like everything medical, they need lots of large studies before approval by the FDA. It's still a few years down the road.

I would love this too!

My friend has a diabetic service dog. Love him! He can smell her levels getting low when she's sleeping an wake her up. He truly has saved her life multiple times.

I've got one! She could detect it in my cats and my friend. She has a sincere and clear reaction to it. Maybe I should start a business.

I don't know the answer to this but I just want to say it made me laugh.

Me too. Would they sniff your butt?

All kidding aside, it does sound like a great idea. They have peanut allergy sniffing dogs, so why not cancer?
