Indoor Pool

We are considering a home that has an indoor pool and we're evaluating our options. The pool is in the lower level of the house and seems to be in good condition with a ventilation system. There doesn't seem to be any pool smell or excess humidity in the rest of the house. So Option #1 is that we keep the pool as is, in which case we would need to maintain it. Anyone have any experience with maintaining an indoor pool? How expensive is maintenance? Option #2 is to cover it up and use the room for something else. Any experience with this? Also, any other general thoughts about indoor pools would be greatly appreciated.
