Literally Dozens of threads about Visi on this forum. You might want to read them and then ask questions if you still have any |
| What's your daughter like? I found it to be a wonderful community and very inclusive. Beautiful campus. |

Visi is where the established, well-heeled Catholics send their daughters. Lots of them from Montgomery County and NW DC parishes. (Mercy, St Barts, etc, etc)
It's the sister school of Gonzaga -- or maybe Georgetown Prep --- and it's mirror image. |
Actually a strange question. Visitation serves a relatively narrow slice of the DC area world. The people who send their daughters there are very well aware of the school and have been probably targeting it as the place for high school for years. They may have also considered Stone Ridge, but have always favored Visitation. The moms may have gone to Visitation. The father's probably went to Gonzaga or Prep or St John's in the glory years. Of course, this doesn't describe every Visitation student. But it's accurate for the majority of them. |
| Not the OP but curious about Visi too. How does it compare to NCS? My perception is Visi is strong academically and provides a kind culture. NCS seems rigorous but at least is the high school there seems to be a mean girl culture. Thinking of sending my daughter to one of these schools but not for many years. |
The principle difference is that Visitation is a Catholic school owned and led by nuns (Sisters of the Visitation). The school serves the Catholic population primarily. Many of the Visitation families are DC-area natives. NCS is not a Catholic school. |
Hey PP -- if you are not sure whether Gonzaga or GP is Visi's sister school .... why are you even commenting on that fact? |
| A lot of legacies without great credentials. Very snooty, which you can probably tell from the other posts. |
People love to hate Catholic schools with wonderful reputations. Disregard the hateful remarks like this one and other snotty like comments. Unless, of course, you are also just downright anti-Catholic. |
| New poster here. How do Visitation and Stone Ridge compare in terms of social experience for the child? My impression is that Visitation is so cliquish that you can get marginalized very quickly. I've heard less about Stone Ridge. Our DD is in a MC parochial school now that drips with snobby cliques, and the last thing we need is another four years of that. |
| I don't get why the MD people don't stay in MD and go to SR. They take spots away from DC kids who have no where else to go but bad publics. |

Maybe because Visi is ~$3k less a year? |
| Visitation is a Washington archdiocese school. It is open to all students in the archdiocese. |
I'd like to know as well. |
