Playgroups in Old Town

Anonymous
Does anyone know of a fun, informal playgroup in the Old Town, Alexandria area? I am looking for a place where Moms/Dads meet with infants and toddlers - want to tkae my 5 month old to meet other babies and kids. I figure you can never start socialization skills too early!!!

I live close to Old Town and would be interested in a playgroup. Maybe we can put something together?

I live outside of Old Town and take our 2 year old and 13 month old to the story hours (more like music hours) at the Queen Street library. There are lots of nice kids, parents (moms mainly) and nannies. My guess is that that would be a good place to go to meet people who might be interested in a playgroup. In nicer weather there's also the Royal Street and Lee Street parks -- I've met many nice families at these parks. And then there's always Starbucks for the sleepy new moms. One of my closest friends is a mom I met while we were both bleary-eyed with infants while on maternity leave. St. Paul's Episcopal Church also has a very active moms group and I believe their kids play together regularly. And there are also Music Together classes (in Del Ray and at Belle View shopping center), and it seems that some of the parents from those classes start informal playgroups. One thing I found about having an infant is that you can meet people anywhere, particularly other new parents, and people seem very open to arranging get togethers and making new friends.
