Do you pay someone to wash your windows?

Anonymous
We've lived in our house 4 years and I've never had the exterior windows cleaned. Do you do this yourself or pay someone?

We have Anderson windows, the type that you can clean the exterior from inside the house but I always seem to struggle to do it without getting the window cord off track. I don't want to spend a fortune on it...but it's time. The windows look quite dirty.

I have. It wasn't much.

Yes, $6/window. Quite worth it.

I have done it myself up until now (about twice a year), but I recently found out how inexpensive it is and will be outsourcing this going forward. $149 for 20 windows, that is inside and out. They don't do in the sills the way I would like, but that is still a good price I think.

If you do do it yourself, I really like the Windex bottle you hook up to your hose and spray. Turns out best if you still wipe the windows down after doing it, but if you could have one person outside spray and one following around inside tilting them in and wiping, it wouldn't be too bad.

Still... this is one of those things I think is worth outsourcing. And I'm pretty cheap. It's a hot, dirty job. Makes a huge difference to the look of your house.

With the $149 for 20 windows, it is $6 for each additional window.

Ok, you all have convinced me! Who has a company to recommend?

I hire a company to come clean them every year. I have a lot of windows and for close to $300.00 to clean the inside and outside of my windows is a small price to pay to have clean windows.

I just used Mr Window. Very pleased, quick turnaround. Rates are

$7 / window
$1.50 / screen
$12 / slider
includes cleaning of the window sash.

Does not include larger out of reach stuff like palladian windows
