got this in the mail yesterday. it asks lots of questions about the condition of our house and it's characteristics (how many bedrooms, etc). asks us to send it back to office of tax and revenue within 14 days.
1 - do i have to? 2 - what's in it for me to fill this out if it is not required? 3 - i'm assuming that i'm better off if the office of tax and revenue thinks my house is worth very little, so should i say everything is in "poor" condition? |
Which state? |
sorry - dc |
We just got this too. We just bought in November, so I assumed the tax office is trying to figure out interior for assessment purposes. Our house is a total dump, requiring almost a full gut, so I'm happy to send it to them! |
We got it last year after buying a home in DC. We did not fill it out. DC OTR "reassessed" our home and assessed us over the sales price. |
We just got this too. Bought last August and had an inspector come and leave his card and ask us to call...which I did and verified info for him. Still got this form nearly a year later after already getting an assessment several hundred thousand over what we paid. I'm flummoxed as to why they need more info.
It also asks for things they ought to know - like when the addition was put on. All I know is sometime in the mid 90s. I have no particulars beyond that, but presumably they would since it's an historic district and had to all be permitted and hashed out. |
so, what do you guys think? should we fill it out? ignore it? |
