"Babymoons" anyone?

Anonymous
Hubs and I have decided to take a last minute trip in July as our last hurrah before baby (I'll still be in second tri). But, we are totally unsure where to go and need ideas.

Criteria:

1) No passport needed. I never got a new one after changing my name and its too difficult with frequent flier miles to do it under my maiden name anymore. This could include Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands but we're undecided.

2) Looking to spend no more than $2500

3) Would like a resort type environment but not a huge mega resort like Sandals. We went to a small, sprawling resort for our honeymoon and we're looking for that type of intimate environment again

4) Don't want to spend all day traveling -- so should be a reasonable trip away from DC...

5) Must have good food.

Any ideas? Did you take a so-called "babymoon"? Where did you go?

Bermuda! Amazing resorts, short plane flight (2.5 hrs direct from DCA).

I second Bermuda. DH and I honeymooned there. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Stop with the Babymoon name. That term was recently voted as one of the most over used and hated terms used by new mothers. Second was Bucket List.

Babymoon sounds narcissistic... it's all about me, me, me.

Couples San Succi in Jamaica would meet every one of your criteria, but for the passport thing.... Wonderful, intimate but still a resort.

What about somewhere in upstate ny or Maine?

Don't you need a passport to travel to/from Bermuda?

What would you call it then? Wouldn't want to offend you.

Vacation. And you just happen to be pregnant. NP here and I also agree Babymoon is very attention-seeking when you're talking about it with others. It's one thing to say "Oh, we're taking a vacation - kind of our last hurrah before baby comes, you know?" and to say, "Oh, we're going on our Babymoon." It's trying to make a thing out of something that isn't a thing.

OP, the way you wrote your post and put babymoon in quotes, I totally think you're more likely to actually just call it a vacation in real life. But the term babymoon is annoying.

Vacation, yes. Because after baby there's no such thing as a vacation anymore. There are only "trips."

Who cares? Lots of things in life, and on this board, fit that description.

Btw, np, dh.
