Blake Lively- Jason Baldoni and NYT - False Light claims

It may or may not be true that Taylor looked at the casting tape, but that's a cute little story to promo the film.

Because it’s all bullshit. This is an all hands on deck multi-million dollar crisis PR mud slinging campaign hoping to muscle Justin into a hush settlement before discovery and depositions.

I hope it doesn't settle before depositions and I hope the depos are made public. At least the transcripts. Because I want dirt!

But I don't share your viewpoint about Baldoni's side being in the right. I think Baldoni's deposition is going to be a MESS. I also assume Lively's will be as well. I think they are both super messy. But... I love mess.

Taylor, Ari, Blake and Ryan have exponentially more to lose than Justin. And Justin is on far firmer footing.

Take this with whatever grain of salt you want, but someone claiming to have insider info posted on Reddit in August 2024 a ton of juicy stuff about this case that ended being true. One thing they said was that Taylor would only lend her song to the movie if they fired the guy who scored the movie (she didn’t like him). Cut to this month. A podcast interviewing the guy who ended up scoring the movie is unearthed. It has like 50 original views. This guy tells the story of how Blake Lively called him up and begged him to score the movie. She needed it in one week. He said it ended up taking him 3. When asked why she needed it done on such short notice he said he didn’t know. He said the other guy was probably fired for some reason. I watched the video. It’s just some random guy who has no idea about all this drama.

+1, watching people try to tear down Jenny Slate and discredit her based on absolutely nothing is really opening my eyes, frankly. At least with Lively there was some behavior that I absolutely think was problematic -- I remember when that interview with the Norwegian journalist made the rounds last summer, I very much agreed she was over the line in the interview.

But this stuff about Slate is so obviously people fishing for something to take out of context to discredit her with. It's unnerving. This is not an okay way to treat a woman just because she made an allegation of inappropriate behavior on set. To me it is revealing the degree to which the pro-JB crowd maybe just really hate women and love trashing them.

Nobody's pro-Baldoni. More like pro-truth and fairness. When you decide to be wicked and hijack someone else's creative endeavor and then after getting everything you wanted try to slander and destroy him with claims of sexual harrassment, then bring in friends and associates to help your devious acts, everything is off the table. Everything you said and did that was problematic will be called to question, including your witnesses.

Exactly. There is definitely a history of women making complaints about men and being dismissed as being difficult or untruthful. So we can acknowledge that for Jenny.,

But we also must acknowledge that there is a history of white women being uncomfortable around black men for seemingly innocuous behavior, and reporting them to authority, whether HR or the police.

What is more likely?

Blake Lively and Jenny Slate, two actresses with very different reputations, personalities, and sense of humor, both decided to accuse Baldoni and Heath of inappropriate, harassing behavior on the set of this movie because, after all, women love to lie about being harassed and also women who make SH accusations are treated so great and it goes very well for them. And both women specifically complained about inappropriate comments/behavior concerning women as mothers, which is a very specific way of making inappropriate comments to women.

OR

A bunch of inappropriate stuff happened on that set and at least two actresses were bothered by it and made complaints about it.

If it’s true it wasn’t a formal complaint, it’s much more likely Jenny told the story to Blake and Blake ran with it, and not that a bunch of inappropriate stuff happened on set. Ryan did an entire social media post about Brandon’s butt. They are hypocrites.

Didn't one of the actresses say in an interview that Taylor helped her get a role and also helped I. Other casting decisions? Seems like involvement.....

https://www.eonline.com/news/1413732/how-taylor-swift-was-allegedly-involved-in-casting-it-ends-with-us

Is that relevant to any of the causes of action in any of the lawsuits though? I don't think it is.

It’s relevant because Taylor’s camp has lied to the press about the meeting with Justin. She claimed she met him in passing one time when he was leaving Blake’s house and she was entering. However, Justin is on record saying he showed the casting tapes to Taylor and Blake (long before that supposed meeting) which IF’s statement corroborates. The implication is TS had more involvement than she’s admitting, which is why she will definitely be deposed.

That's said for Jenny. She's allowed to be uncomfortable, talk about it with others, and have that kept private. If she didn't raise the issue with any higher ups then blake and others should've respect it.

I assume there are HR complaints at all businesses. And I assume what you as a business are supposed to do is appropriately address the complaint.

It sounds like these complaints were all rather minor and were all addressed appropriately. (Don’t come at me, birth scene lady! I know how you feel!) So I’m not sure why we need to dwell on them to the degree that we are.

I understand that it’s much more complicated than this because of the retaliation claim, but at the same time, I don’t necessarily think it warrants such strangulation of every complaint.

She felt uncomfortable for . . . reasons. They addressed it, as any business should. It’s what happened next where everything gets murky for me. Did she then use the complaint as extortion—or did he retaliate to delegitimize her claim? Both? Neither?

My point is that I don’t really care what Jenny Slate did or didn’t complain about. That was between Slate and Wayfarer to deal with as appropriate. I sort of wish maybe we could just agree here that Blake made a SH claim (even if you think she was being oversensitive) and move on. Seems like there’s still plenty of other stuff to argue about.

For extortion he has to allege Blake extracted something through force or threat. Presumably what she got is control of the movie and the threat was her false SH claims coming to light. Having Taylor around is kind of a soft pressure to do what Blake wants because she has power in the industry. I think it's a stretch and Blake's and Taylor’s lawyers will fight hard against deposing her.
