Anyone know much about this school? DD got accepted into Spanish Immersion K; I'm on the fence...

What do you want to know? The spanish Immersion is currently in it's 1st year. There are regular ed students there that are being phased out as the spanish program grows a grade per year. However, those students are not together.

OP here.. any thoughts on school culture; extra curricular activities, etc... DD is a pianist and soccer player - activities offered at current school. I can speak easily with teachers and there are field trips every few months or so. Too much to expect from P.E.W?

I'm honestly not sure on activities however I spoke to a friend whose dd is in K there in the spanish program and she feels really positive about to speak with teachers and the program overall... I think it(the various ec activities) may be too much to expect for a program that is in its 1st year.

The lack of extracurriculars bothers me also. One reason we turned it down and left our child in private school for Spanish Immersion instead. The extras are an important part of their education also.

Does anyone have children in the Spanish Immersion Program here? My child got in but I'm concerned that it's ranked so low on (3 on GreatSchools).
Unfortunately we are wait listed for Dora Kennedy.

I have a good friend who really loves the Spanish Immersion program and speaks very highly of it. I have been to a few PTA sponsored programs (Grandparents day etc.) and they have been lovely.

Thanks! Glad to hear that.

We have a child in the program; this year is his first and it's been wonderful. His teacher is the BEST, very easy to communicate with. The school has a lot of fun PTA programs throughout the year and because the program is still fairly new, the staff really puts in effort to make it succeed (versus some schools where teachers arejaded or could care less). We know everyone has different experiences but we've been very happy.

Great. We decided to accept and give it a shot. Appreciate the feedback.

I'm bumping this thread up for any recent news.

The school website has not been updated since 2020, and the school has had the same "acting principal" since then.

Nevertheless, it's the north county Spanish immersion, and we are interested for Kindergarten. Can anyone share recent experiences? Thanks!
