My regular OB-GYN referred me to Dr. Nancy Durso who recommended major surgery to remove the fibroid. I like her and her staff, and I've heard good things about her ability to perform this procedure and have women go on to conceive. I am not thrilled about the idea of such a huge surgery and long recovery time, but my top priority is preserving my fertility and Dr. Durso is on the same page in that respect.
This morning my mom sent me a link to the Center for Innovative Gyn Care. It looks like they use a hybrid method to remove fibroids that involves laparoscopy without morcellation called LAAM myomectomy. Does anyone have any experience with this procedure or with the doctors at this practice? Dr. Natalya Danilyants and Dr. Paul Mackoul?
I had kind of accepted the fact that I would be getting major surgery, and now I feel like I am second-guessing myself after reading about this new procedure. Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!
Get a second opinion. Make sure whomever you choose is serous about preserving your fertility. I had a myomectomy years ago - I was fine in 3 weeks. I have had two children since, both planned c-sections. I don't have a recommendation for a doctor, as I did not go local.
