I am in desperate need of a pair of comfortable flat (-ish) shoes, that I can wear to work (semi-casual, jeans on Fridays type of place) with pants and also with jeans. I have no idea what to look for. Are ballet flats something that fit the bill? Do I wear socks or stockings with them? FWIW, I am a shoe moron. I've been wearing these giant oxford lace-up things that our cleaning lady always puts back in my husband's closet. And I'm embarrassed to admit, I have them in black and brown and they are all I wear. So I guess I need to move to something less man-like. Also, comfort is important-- I am 6 months pregnant and have a toddler. Any suggestions, or do I need to call a reality show for an intervention??

I think ballet flats would fit the bill. Maybe try Cole Haan. They make nice and comfortable shoes.
Thanks! With ballet flats, can you wear regular black socks (which is what I usually wear)? The front seems more open than what I am used to.
You can wear black socks with black ballet shoes in the fall/winter. In spring/summer go with out socks with all ballet flats. And for heavens sake don't wear black socks with non black shoes. I second the Cole Hahn ballet flats. Super comfy.
Sorry meant Cole Haan. Never can that one right!

I usually wear the no show type socks with my flats, I am a flats queen by the way.
