| Even though they are great seats $25 less per ticket than the official ticket website? |
| Nope. Don't do it. |
| can you get them to post on ebay as Buy it now so you are protected? |
| Don't do it. My DD bought concert tix on CL a while back and was turned away with her friends at the door because they were counterfeit. |
| Thank you for the reality check! it's a show my ds wants to see (Newsies) so I am having a hard time coughing up the $100+ for not great seats through the theater. |
| I have bought and sold concert tickets on CL before. I provide a receipt and ask for one when I purchase them. |
| PP here - Also, make sure the person you buy the tickets from has not revealed the bar code in their photos - even if the ticket you purchased are real, the barcode may have been used to produce fake tickets. |
I'm pretty sure the protections offered by PayPal are not valid for event tickets. It's an exempted item. Do not buy anything that seems to good to be true. Ever. If the show if far off and they're selling for less than the ticket price, I promise you it's a scam. I've bought and sold concert tickets on Craigslist quite a few times. I try to find sellers who just can't make it to the show. I only buy hard tickets with cash in person, in a public place. I don't buy if any of those 3 aren't possible, or if the seller balks at my requests. |
| I sold concert tickets on CL because I had to leave town (unexpectedly). Totally kosher. What's your concern? |

OP here. We have sold tickets on craigslist but just when another couple couldn't make it and we met in the theater lobby and made the exchange. So I am not against CL.
I asked the seller of the tickets I am interested in how I would know if the tickets were legit or not and he said they were etickets and that I could pick them up at his house so I would know where to go if there was a problem (but he assured he there wouldn't be). Makes me nervous to pick them up at the house and not at the theatre or a public place. |
| OP, have you checked Goldstar.com? Also, while I doubt Newsies is on this site, Ticketplace.org offers a lot of deals. |
I wouldn't be okay with that. (1) lack of public place and (2) when I sold etickets on CL, I forwarded & deleted the email in front of the purchaser. That way they had the email and they had the assurance that I couldn't re-print the tickets and sell them to someone else. Hard tickets are best but you still need to make sure they did not make the barcode visible when selling. Scammers can copy and re-print the tickets if they can see the barcode. I also think that the price is too good to be true - I would only expect a price that good if there were hours left till show time. |

OP, don't know if you're still checking this thread but Goldstar has a deal on Newsies:
