Stanford Achievement Test for 2nd Graders

Is anyone else's 2nd grader taking the Stanford Achievement Test in Prince George's County Public Schools this week? We received a PGCPS letter home on Friday but don't understand the purpose for the test. It mentions identification for TAG purposes for 3rd grade, but our child is already in TAG.
