My cousin

Anonymous
I'm not speaking to my sister. My cousin and her are close. I am still close to my cousin but my sister and her have always been closer. That's not an issue.

I was at an event this weekend and my sister was at the next table over. My cousin was at my table and barely spoke to me. When my sister is not at events, my cousin is very talkative. I feel she is scared of talking to me with my sister there.

How would you feel?

And would you mention it to her?

I'd take it for what it is and respond accordingly.

Obviously your family dynamics are complex. Don't hold a grudge against the cousin. It sounds like she's navigating the awkward situation as best she can.

I don't see it as that complex just because my sister and I don't speak.
She pretty much ignored me and made it a point to go to the bathroom etc with my sister.

No, why? Because they go to the washroom together?

How would I feel?

It wouldn't matter.
I don't cause drama.
And I don't spend time w/people who cause drama.

I don't want drama. I'm hurt. I thought we had our own relationship but I feel cousin only wants to have this behind my sisters back.

OP again, I'm kind of surprised too because I had her over to my home many times. I thought we were close until, for the first time in 2 years we were in on peace with my sister and I guess I feel tossed to the side. Not investing more into her.

Goodness, how old are you people? This is stupid.

Not being on speaking terms with your own sister is a complicated situation, op. Maybe not for you, but it is for everyone else in your family.
