Daycare cost in Takoma Park or similar?

Trying to make a decision about where to live. Got a PK3 spot at a desirable DCPS and would like to figure out how much it will actually save us to take it.

For a 3 year old $1600/month for a full day program.

For a 4 year old $1500/month for a full day program.

At DCPS you'd have to pay for after care. But if it's really a desirable public school in DC, you kind of need to take it because you might not get in the next time you do the lottery.

I run a preschool in SS. Our prices are $1200-1400 (2-5 years) month for a fullday preschool. This includes before/after care.

Kids Adventures at the Takoma park elementary school is less than $800/ month

And Takoma Park Child development Center is about $1000/month for that age.

As someone who recently moved to TP, I would advise that if you are truly in a desirable school in DC for PK, that you stay in DC. At least through PK3-4. TP, and MoCo in general, is expensive for housing and daycare and there are not a lot of options from a pre-k standpoint that doesn't require a lot of driving in traffic. Waiting lists are also out the door. Might as well pocket two years and then decide where you want to move for K if DCPS is not an option.

Make sure you understand waiting lists before you take that gamble. Friends were on a list for more than two years before getting a PK spot at daycare.
