Window AC Unit

Anonymous
We just refinished our attic that does not have central AC. We are going to use it as an additional bedroom and need a quiet AC unit for approximately 300sf. Can anyone recommend a brand and model number? The window isn't small so the size of the unit isn't an issue. Many thanks!

Don't think it much matters. Just get a basic one with enough BTUs.

I actually think it makes a huge difference, if you're using it as an additional bedroom. Window ACs range in noise from "somewhat loud fan" to "airplane taking off."

OP I would look at the GE AEL06LS.

http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-air-conditioner/

"After spending the past four summers researching window air conditioners—including more than 20 hours testing units in a 1930s East Coast apartment with a dated electrical system—we’re sure the best model for most rooms is the Frigidaire FFRE0833Q1 ($239). This Frigidaire is as efficient and powerful as any of the best window air conditioners of its size, offers more useful features than the competition, and, at a relatively manageable 48 pounds, it’s lighter and easier to install, too."

Thanks! I'll look into it.

Price out installing a mini split. It will be silent and provide a bit of heat if you need it.

Thanks but we will eventually install central AC so it's window units for now.

Ours are all Frigidaire and I've been happy with them.

Do you recall the model? Or are they the same as a pp?
