Hi there,
We are planning a move in March and would like to see if anyone can recommend any movers they liked? As in good prices, hard workers, reputable, etc... Much Thanks! - Fran |
| we just used Town and Country and they were great. We packed ourselves but had them move us from a 2bdroom, 2 bath in arlington to a 4bedroom in Vienna. It was about $1000 with tip for a team of 3 to pack up everything from our house and move it to the other house. We have a toddler and I'm 7 mos pregnant and we had an attic full of stuff and 4 floors so it was totally worth it. Nothing was broken and they were very polite. The move start to finish took about 6.5 hours. |

We used JK Moving and Storage for our move from MD to VA and they were great (www.jkmoving.com). I don't know how reasonable they are compared to other services but you could check them out.
Definitely do not use Gulliver's Movers -- we had a terrible experience with them. |
| Second Gulliver's Movers. We used them 5 years ago and could've just hired a bunch of guys off the street for what they were worth. I've heard very good things about Town and Country. More expensive than the others, but I'm in the position of having a toddler and being pregnant too and just want things to be easy this time. |
| Choice Van Lines 888-330-2956. Moved from a one bedroom in NoVA to a 3 level townhouse in DC. They did all the packing (not a scratch on anything) and the total was 868 + tip. |
| Beltway Movers was amazing!! We had them pack and move for us, and it ended up below their estimate because their guys work SO hard and fast. A supervisor came over during the move to check on things and brought the guys a snack, which I was really impressed with. They obviously treat their workers well, and they work hard in return. |
| I'm a big fan of Beltway Movers. We've used them twice and they've been fabulous. |
| I used Great Scott Movers and was very happy with them. |
| I've used Big Green Movers twice now and have been thrilled with them. Both times I packed myself and they did the moving. Last time they moved us from a 2-bedroom townhouse into a 3-bedroom house, including lots of unwieldy hobby equipment, in under 5 hours for about $900. The guys are great, hardworking, and very careful. Plus it's a local family-owned company, they use biodiesel in their trucks, and use reusable/recyclable packing materials wherever possible. www.biggreenmoving.com |
| LOVED JK Moving.... we used them to move out of a house, into storage and then into our house that was being built. did a PHENOM job... crew was so courteous and professional, very very clean, very organized. |

I have to second the Town and Country recommendation.
We used them twice--once 8 years ago, and once last month, and both times they did a phenomenal job. They were very professional and worked extremely hard. Nothing broken either time, and prices were reasonable. |
| Beltway Movers! I did a ton of research on local moving companies before we moved last year and they consistently came out on top. We were very pleased with them. They were on budget, they were quick, and nothing was damaged or lost. |
| DO NOT use Two Guys and a Truck. Terrible customer service and unreachable supervisors of any type on weekends. The movers themselves couldn't have been nicer or harder working though. |
OP here, thanks so much to everyone for taking the time to respond! It seems like there are some great recommendations and warnings here
Thanks again, and I'll look into all of them! - Fran |
