TTC Strategies!

Anonymous
Kind of feel like I'm going crazy. My OBGYN told me to wait two more months.

So anyways, let's discuss strategies. I was hoping for more ideas of what to try.

We're currently:
-BDing every single day from day 10 to AF.
-Charting
-OPKs
-Taking Pregnitude twice a day

Have you ever charted or used OPKs? If so, I'd think you could narrow down your window of "have sex every day" from what looks like over 2 weeks to maybe 5 days.

Unless you both love having sex everyday! Otherwise, you'll burn out. I'd try every other day...

OP here. We do chart with OPKs. We've been trying for 1.5 years. I year of just not using BC and 1/2 a year of trying really, really hard. Having sex daily is part of our last hurrah before we start in with an RE. It's pretty much not fun, but was DH's idea.

Don't have sex daily. Your husbands probably not producing a lot of swimmers because of this. If you are temping and using OPK you should have a good idea of when you ovulate. If you insist on BD around that time then sure do it 3 days before and 3 days after.

Pp here I meant if you insist on bd daily. Also how old are you? 6 months isn't that long.

We're 29. We've tried for 1.5 years. Since December though, we upped our game with the constant BD during ovulation.

Wait until you've been temping and doing OPk for a year before you see an RE.

I would read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and start temping. That will be helpful even if you go to the RE. It took us 13 mos of temping and charting and pretty damn near perfect timing to get pregnant. OPKs were really not that helpful to me. I found tracking CM to be the most helpful actually. I didn't have great CM so I found pre seed to be helpful and got pregnant using pre seed and soft cups a cycle before medicated IUI. Good luck!

Op here. I loved TCOYF and we do use preseed. I forgot to mention that. How often were you BDing for the 13 months?

OP, I was like you and getting anxious. It's counter intuitive, but I stopped charting. I started fertility acupuncture (which was really relaxing) and hubby and I just started having sex because it was fun. When we went out, instead of swearing off all alcohol, I'd have a glass or two and have and enjoy my evening. I started focusing on doing things I/we wouldn't be able to do easily when we did have kids. I was pregnant within a month Pre-seed was great too...

I've heard of using Instead soft cups (after BDing) and preseed (I will be trying that this month)!

Soft Cups (together with charting and OPKs) worked for me. Twice. Before the first one, we had timed, unprotected sex for 11 months. Finally tried the Soft Cups and got pregnant that cycle. Before the second one, we had unprotected (but not timed) sex for 6 months then decided to get serious and used Soft Cups again and again got pregnant the first cycle using them. Getting ready to try for number 3 and will use then immediately.

I've also heard of some couples who had success just having DH ejaculate into the Soft Cup before insertion.

Pp here. We were having perfectly timed sex around ovulation from usually day 10-16 and I ovulated consistently on day 14 or 15. We did everything - sex every day, every other. DHs sperm was tested and really good around month 8-9 and then I didn't worry about every other and we just went for it.

We are trying for #2 and I was looking back at my charts and couldn't believe how great they looked in terms of timing, OPK, fertility monitor, temps, sex. And yet it took 13 months.

See an RE. Most people get pregnant fairly quickly. If you've been having unprotected sex for 1.5 years something is going on.
Also, day 10 could be too late to start. What day do you ovulate? Start BD the day your period ends until the day after you ovulate. Every other day is fine.
