This is good news and a relief to these principals.

Interesting point in the Post article--Leckie is developing a middle school! That removes one of Hart MS' 5 feeder schools, and it happens to be the highest-performing and most diverse one. Can't see that being good news for Hart, but it is likely good news for DCPS. There was a Post article recently about how families from Bolling AFB were eager for a charter school on the base, though some sent kids to Leckie and seemed to like it. I imagine doing this will keep some middle school kids from military families in DCPS when otherwise they would have gone charter.

I want to know the full list of who has a 3-year contract! I hope our principal is one. She's fantastic, and the school could really use some stability in leadership.

Well the article did mention the principals of Leckie, Truesdell, and umm...one that I forget already.

I'm sure our Principal would have been a candidate. Too bad she's leaving to be with family abroad.

As for the high-schools I hope the principals at all of the applications schools get a 3-year deal. As for the comprehensive my top choices are the principals at Ballou, Coolidge, Dunbar and Eastern. Columbia Heights...just grandfather into the deal...hell she's been the longest serving principal in DCPS history. To give her a three year contract would be insulting...hell she should give the Chancellor a 3-year deal. *wink*

I hope P. Pride of Hardy gets the 3-year contract. She's doing an amazing job.

They should have done this long ago and are probably doing now out of desperation and inability to attract good candidates.

Is there going to be a clause in this three year contract. I am just saying an effective principal can look good downtown especially if they are able to play the game. However, the parents and teachers may not agree to their principal ratings. Let's be real if Kaya or whoever else likes the principal they are going to give them effective or highly effective ratings. This does not mean anything at local school especially when you do not have parent or teacher input on a principal ratings.

Any word on the 22 principals with 3 year contracts?
