Can anyone tell me about it?
Good Bad Do all kids get a fair shot or is the team pretty much already decided type of thing? |

I do need to ask how the club and Hs teams work in the area. We currently live in a place where HS is fall and club is spring/early summer.
My son has played travel since age 8 in South Carolina/Hampton Roads area of VA/Pennsylvania |
Don't know anything about Battlefield HS soccer (is that in Manassas?) but I can tell you that public HS soccer in Virginia is in the spring. Of course club/travel soccer is year round. And private/catholic HS soccer in Virigina is in the fall. |
| Thanks for the reply. We will be living in Haymarket is there any recommendation for a club in the area? It doesn't need to be the BEST. We will be in the area mid summer and I don't want him to miss any time. June and July are his months off typically so he will stay on track. A decent club team will do at least for the first year until we figure it all out this first year! |
If I were in your shoes I would initially check out Prince William (PWSI), FC Virginia, and Chantilly and found out where the team in your son's age group practices. |
| Look at VSA, based in Haymarket. Some good teams though not always stable. SYA is also near you. Solid program, plays in the top league (CCL) which does travel around Virginia. Tryouts ongoing now. |
| We won't be in the area until June 1. But for only a week due to a tournament in PA with current club team weekend of the 7th which will be our final game or tournament and then back to VA. I will look into and contact the SYA to see about a late tryout. I also saw NVSC? Had tryouts on the 4th. Is that worth the time? |

My kids play at SYA. We are very happy. They virtually NEVER max out a roster as early as the beginning of June. Frankly, seldom are tryouts even over that early. Contact them to get the name of the coach in your age group and send that person an email.

| Thanks. I have contacted SYA. Their tryouts are 26-30 May and we will not be in the area yet. Hopefully we can figure something out. |
