What to Do with One Day in Copenhagen

Anonymous
I will have one day in Copenhagen, a city I've never been to. Any expert advice on what to do with only 1 day (8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.)?

I think I would try to find a half day bus tour to see the sights and then just wander. It is a lovely city.

Go see the little mermaid in the harbor (10 minutes), walk along the Stroeget (the main pedestrian street) sit in a sidewalk cafe and enjoy a danish. Pick up a boat tour of old town at Havnegade (which is another really cool area of the harbor). Once off the boat, walk to Amalienborg (the royal palace) and see the changing of the guards. If you have time left, poke your head into the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek (closed on Mondays), which is a fabulous museum with great impressionistic and Egyptian collections among other things.

I went on the BEST free walking tour when I was there!

We did Sandeman's, but it looks like there's another highly rated free one too (we did tip the guide at the end).

We were there for 36 hours. Upon arrival, we got on one of the boat tours in Nyhavn, and then went to the Ice Bar (which was a waste, but kind of fun). Then we walked over to Tivoli, and contemplated walking through the gardens and having dinner there, but the entrance fees were high enough that we chose not to. Just walked the main strip of shops instead.

The next day, we went on the walking tour, had a picnic lunch in the park, and wandered around some more. It is an extremely compact city that we could walk back and forth across multiple times without issue.

Ditto (I was there for 26 hours and this was what we did pretty much).

The best memory was a 3hr bike trip with Mike's (?) Bike Tours. So fun. Best memory. Also, awesome free tours too.
