To accommodate a new layout in our tiny apartment kitchen we need a 24 inch gas range. Would be willing to go up to $2500 or so, but that means cutting back in other areas. But am willing to do it for a good range.
This has been really hard to research, as there are almost no reviews on line. What reviews exist are almost always negative about the particular model. Choices seem to be ranges made by Summit or Premier, and there are plenty of complaints about the functioning of various models, nonresponsiveness of the companies, and difficulty getting someone to repair. GE has one with what is a huge flaw for me--no oven window. And one review said getting parts was a problem. There is a leap in price to $1800--$2300 but all by lesser known European brands--Smeg, Bertazzoni and I am concerned about getting repairs. Blomberg has one below this price point but there is a complaint about tray design, which sounded bad for a range that will be used for a lot baking. Fisher Paykel has one, but again negative reviews. From there you leap to the $3500 and over segment with Bluestar and American, but this seems very pricey and I am worried about excessive heat in a kitchen with no air conditioning. And they seem over the top for someone who cooks but is no where near a professional chef level. Surely someone has a 24 inch range that has worked out! Any suggestions most welcome. |
