Seaton aftercare

Can anyone provide any feedback on the quality of aftercare at Seaton? Who runs it? What types of activities are there for kids (particularly PK ones)? Pluses and minuses?

PK parent here. After care is run by DCPS. It is ok. They have scheduled activities each day (forgot what the exact schedule is...computer lab one day, music one day, library, etc). They also do a lot of arts and crafts, story time and free play. They also spend time in the PK playground. When the weather was cold, they will have dance parties in the classroom or in the cafeteria. I like that one of the teaching assistants now help out during after care. She knows the kids better so she knows how to deal with them. Parents are working with the school on possibly adding enrichment classes for fall so hopefully, next SY's after school program will be better than this year.

Any idea about before-care options for Seaton?

I haven't heard any talks about before care options. We'll have a PTA meeting on Thursday and can bring it up.

The Principal shared during the PTA meeting that enrichment classes will be added for PK-K next SY (upper grades already have different clubs). This is great news! Details are still in the works and the program will probably get finalized sometime during the summer break. The school and parents are involved in making these happen.

Oh..and we are finally getting new windows installed in the school!! All external windows will be replaced and the bars will be taken out. No more prison-looking building . We were told the window design will be similar to that of the new MLK Library.

The incoming families should look out for an email about the welcome play date happening in June.
