I know it is best not to drink when TTC but if I didn't get pregnant during a cycle, is it safe to have wine with dinner during my period?

| My gynecologist explained that the fertilized egg doesn't even implant until 2 weeks after ovulation, so there's absolutely no harm drinking as much as you want before your missed period. Even if the egg is fertilized, it's not attached and absorbing nutrients from your bloodstream, so it won't be absorbing any alcohol. There is no much misinformation about what you shouldn't do while you're TTC. |

| OP, I am very cautious on this due to FAS in my family, but in this case, I think it would be absolutely fine. Good luck next month. |

I drank til it was pink and think it is more than okay to drink during your period!
Justt wanted to add, though, since this is a TTC board, that alcohol can interfere with conception and implantation, so if you're really hoping to conceive, you're best off making sure it's out of you're system during those times. You're not going to cause gas or developmental problems if you drink during implantation, but you might not end up pregnant. This is a combinations of info front asking charge of your fertility and expecting better. |
