I live in a 1950s Arlington SFH. We have noticed some issues since we moved in 3 years ago -- like moldings are off kilter, and the stairwell has sunk to one side. I called in a foundation company because I thought the house was settling, but was told that the main beam of the house is not properly supported and is sagging, and that I need additional lolly columns installed every 5-6 feet along the main beam. (Right now there are far fewer lolly columns -- either they weren't there when the house was built, or a DIYer removed them sometime in the past). This will be costly and disruptive (removing drywall to access the old columns and replace them; jackhammering the floor , etc.). I'd like two more opinions/estimates.
