Introduce me to Old Town Alexandria

OK, I've lived in DC for over 5 years now and have still to make my way to Old Town Alexandria even though I keep thinking about how nice it'd be to spend a sunny afternoon just walking and browsing the shops, restaurants, cafe's etc. I'm determined to make it over there soon so was hoping for some info for a "walking tour" of the area. What are the main streets/areas that I should wander around? Can't miss shops, restaurants (for lunch), cafes, etc? I'd be coming with some other mom friends and our DB's, who are all under a year.

I live in Old Town. King street is the main street for shopping and eating! There are a few places right off of King, but you can see them if you just keep your eyes peeled down the cross streets. I love living here, so much to do. Have a great visit when you get around to it.
