| Thinking of going to Deep Creek but have never been. Would probably try to go up in mid-August. How crowded is it usually? I know the lake is popular but is it too crowded to really enjoy? Any tips? We would be there during the week, if that matters. Thanks. |
| We have a cabin near Deep Creek Lake. I don't think that it ever really gets crowded, except for holiday weekends. We don't have a boat, but the lake never seems really busy/crowded, especially during the week. We like to go to the beach at the State Park and it gets a little crowded on weekends, but during the week it can be empty. I think August is a good time to go. The water should be warm enough to enjoy. My kids will swim all summer, no matter how cold, but it doesn't really get warm until later in the summer. We have young kids, so usually eat early and never really have any trouble getting into restaurants. |
| What restaurants, pp? |
| not the pp,you have to go to Brenda's, the best pizza ever! |
Is it Herrington Manor State Park that you go to? I stayed there a couple of times and liked that small beach/lake. |

The lake can get super crowded with boats on summer weekends, especially holiday weekends, but during the week is fine.
I think PP was talking about Deep Creek Lake State Park. They have a couple of small beaches there with lifeguards. You can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards as well. Have fun! Don't miss ice cream at Lakeside Creamery -- you can even go by boat or jet ski. Traders Coffeeshop is great too. |
| We have been going to DCL for over 10 years-- it never gets too crowded. It's such a large area that people don't get concentrated in one part of it per se. |
