AAP bus

New to AAP this coming year. Would they allow to pick up DC from the local school SACC in the morning And drop him off at home in the afternoon?

Schools and bus drivers get a lot of say on this. Call the center school and ask.

Do they usually print "AAP" on the school bus?

No, but they would have abbreviated school name and bus number... Like all the buses in the county

Our center bus goes to the base school and picks up the SACC kids in the morning and drops them off there in the afternoon.

My kids stayed at base school SACC and took the bus from base school to AAP center. We have had one problem. Every year the transportation department assigns my kids' bus stop from our home claiming AAP center didn't tell them about SACC at base school. A couple of phone calls usually fixes it.

Snicker.

Yes, a bus goes to the base school to pick up anyone who wants to go from there. It will have the school code and a number on it, as all buses are supposed to have.

I think the paperwork might say you're supposed to pick one stop for both morning and evening but I know people who did this. You can call transportation and ask what paperwork you need to do.

Out here in Great Falls, the center bus makes the rounds of the various neighborhoods, picking up kids miles apart. What a waste of buses and gas.

I think the bus could do that, OP. You'd have to check with transportation, though.

Yes, they all have stickers like this.

How does this work, timing-wise?

Our base school starts at 8:30. So, say we drop DC off at base school SACC at 7:30. SACC ends when school starts, so I assume the bus would need to pick up by then - is it too much to expect that the county will coordinate that?

The center school doesn't start until 9:20. If he gets picked up at 8 or 8:30, is he going to spend an hour on the bus? How much driving around do they normally do?

OP, this level of detail really needs to be addressed by the schools and SACC involved. There is really no configuration of drop-offs and pick-ups and SACC etc. that they haven't already seen before. You should know, though, that they might not be able to give you exact timings of a route for next fall now, in May. Things change over the summers and much planning happens over the summers as numbers of kids change, stops change, etc.

You will get a lot of venting and "This is what happened to us" posts on something like this, but to answer questions about your child's specific schedule and bus timings, really only the schools and/or the school transportation department can do that for you. While it can be nice to know that other families have been in the same boat, it doesn't really help you plan anything or know what is or isn't going to be permitted re: buses.
