This was a strange one. I watched it because I remembered them from AGT. My impressions:
-They are entertaining as a bluegrass/country family band. -The show is overly sickly sweet, the way tlc portrayed the Duggars and Jon & Kate early on. -8 girls, 4 boys - Some strange "flowers in the attic" undertones among some of the teens. Especially when the teen boys are flexing their peck muscles in the mirror and all their sisters are oogling them. Also the comment "They could be lady killers but we won't let them be" Just kinda backwood. -Dad has a creep vibe, I believe this is required for a TLC show with a big family. -TRAGIC hearing about how the father (and his mother and father) lost 6 young siblings in a car accident, I had a thought that maybe that is why he wanted such a super sized family. -Also tragic hearing there home burned down ten years ago and they haven't rebuilt. I do hope they visit those horses enough (they left them on their land). Don't know if I'll be watching again, no one story really caught my attention. Anyone else watch? |
| Were they the family that was on America's Got Talent last summer? |
Yes |
|
I watched about 30 minutes of it. You're right, it seemed like TLC was trying to make it just too perfect and I got bored. Also, I couldn't really get a good feel for any member of the family. There were just too many people to introduce, too much history that needed to be told, and it felt like the show was jumping all over place.
I'll give the show another chance next week... thought it was OK, but nothing really caught my attention either. |

I can't believe the tragedies these people have been through, they are so thankful for everything they have, and don't expect anything. It makes all the GoFundMe grabbers look even worse.
I agree that it's not a terribly exciting show, but what an awesome family. |
Well, they didn't need a GoFundMe campaign because they won a $100MM settlement as a result of the van incident. |
| Well how about for their house fire? The whole damned thing burned down 10 years ago and they lost all their material possessions. |
100 million? Or 10 millions? Or 1 million? |
I swear I caught myself thinking that two of the older siblings were a married couple then I realized..."oh shit, they're siblings." I felt bad afterwards, because they seem like a nice family and honestly, there probably isn't anything weird going on but I did think it for a second there. Also, they mentioned dating and I wondered, like I do when I watch 19 kids and counting, if any of them will turn out to be gay. They mentioned often that they are Christian but they don't seem quite as fundy as the 19 kids bunch, I wonder how they'd handle it. And about the car accident, that was some heavy shit for such a happy family. Damn, how horrible and traumatic for that man.

| Boring. The Duggars are more appealing |
|
This family is so boring I can't make through an episode. The oldest daughter who is the lead singer is also very unappealing. She is unfortunate looking enough to begin with but then she pulls the strange tight faces like she is in pain when she sings. Her voice is also very thin, tinny and a strange pitch.
I figured this would be a season and done, but with the Duggars likely leaving TLC will probably jazz this family up a bit to keep them. Yay another giant Cindy family with awkward but incestuous overtones. The oldest boy in the episode I just tried to watch said he was brought up to treat a wife like he does his sisters. This should end well. |
| Fundy^ not Cindy |
| I do not like the atall,They received 150 million ,plus insurance on their house. There is something about them,I hope there is no incest involved,I had enough with T L C families.Maybe they should disband the network altogether. It is really on the decline,so scripted, even if they it is not |
Ha! Famous last words! |
| I also saw about 30 minutes of the show. The kids were kind of weird working out in their home gym together. I did not know they were related to the kids who died in that horrible van crash back in 1994. I remember that. I did just realize that their names all begin with 'J' just like the Duggars. What's that all about? (Homage to Jesus?) |
