Chair caning

Anonymous
I have an antique rocking chair with a caned seat, and the caning has broken. Can anyone recommend a place to get the caning redone? (Or maybe repaired-- I can't tell whether that is possible.) I'm in Silver Spring. I tried calling a place in Kensington that I found online, but the voice mailbox is full. And any idea how much this might cost?

Thanks!

I have one that needs done too. I was quoted $250 for the seat which is like 8x8 inches. Which is crazy expensive!

This is OP. Wow, that is expensive! Mine is 13x13. Who gave you that quote?

I believe it was a carpeneter who does caning on craigslist.

I decided instead to buy the kit on amazon and do it myself. I'm pretty handy and I thought it would be a neat project. My caning is under a chair cushion so it wasn't worth it for me to spend that.

OP again-- did you try the kit yet? Is it difficult?
