Can you repair a split in wood without refinishing the entire piece?

| I have a chest of drawers in whitewashed oak and I noticed that the wood has split on one of the drawer fronts. Is there a way I can repair it without refinishing the drawer? I was thinking of putting some white wood filler in the crack and then using wax crayons to try to match the color of the wood. |

| We had part of our bed footboard crack during a move. The furniture repair guy put on super duper glue. And then touched up a tiny bit with some marker. You can barely see the crack now. |

| A product I've used called plastic wood. You can buy it at Home Depot. I used it on my wood floor. |
