Do you mean like a tunic? When you say "caftan," I picture like a muumuu, a la Mrs Roper from Three's Company.

I picture the caftan my dad brought back from some business trip abroad and he would wear it to cocktail parties in the '70's - totally mortifying!!

Not sure what a caftan is. Do you mean a tunic (hip length?) I have few I still wear. I hope they're not totally out! I can't picture what this would be "waist length." Can someone attach a photo link?
