Please recommend your dermatologist

Anonymous
I need to see a dermatologist for a few issues, including adult acne, skin cancer screening and some general skincare advice for aging skin. If you love your dermatologist, please recommend him/her (preferably in DC or close-in suburb). Thanks!!!

If Silver Spring is close enough, I just went to Dr. Benjamin Lockshin for a minor problem. He also did a skin cancer check. Very nice, very professional, didn't try to sell me any anti-aging goop or procedures. And he gives McDreamy a run for his money in the looks department.

Dr. Melda Issac downtown. She's great.

Dr. Brenda Berberian in Chevy Chase. She is great!

New poster but need the exact same thing. Dr. Berberian is great, but doesn't take insurance. Does anyone have a recommendation for a doctor that takes insurance?

Nevermind. Thank goodness for Google! Dr. Lockshin's practice lost a $5.8m lawsuit for malpractice, basically for not removing a suspicious mole sooner over an 8 year period. The patient later died. Yikes! My primary concern IS a suspicious mole!!

Whoa. I'm so sorry I recommended Dr. Lockshin in the first place. I had no idea.

I'm an attorney, and I just want to say that the mere fact that you read somewhere that Dr. Lockshin lost a lawsuit for failure to diagnose a suspicious mole...I just can't see how you have leapt to the conclusion that makes him a "bad" doctor. You have no idea what the circumstances of this case were; you have no idea how the jury reached its verdict or what information it was based on (or whether it was even a jury trial or maybe just a settlement). You have no idea how Dr. Lockshin deals with 99.9% of his patients. For god sakes, this is how crowds with pitchforks and torches get started. It makes me sick.

May I also recommend my dermatologist, Dr. Sandra Read...I've been treated by her for adult acne for years.

OP here -- looks like Dr. Read gets terrible reviews on YELP. I hesitate going to her after reading them.

OP here again -- looks like Dr. Melda Isaac only participates with Medicare. I'm looking for an doctor that takes insurance as well. Thanks!

Yeah, you can kind of get that impression of her from her website -- much more focused on expensive treatments to make skin look younger rather than real medical issues.

I've never gotten an "expensive treatment" from Dr. Sandra Read.
