How busy is Chesterbrook rd in mclean?

Anonymous
Busy. Gets lots of cut-through traffic between Kirby and Glebe (including Maryland drivers who take the GW Parkway and then speed through neighborhoods to get to offices in Ballston).

Did I mention the speeders?

That said, it is generally only busy and fast during rush hour.

It definitely gets traffic from people cutting across from Kirby to Glebe, but less traffic than, say, Kirby, Lorcom or Military. The stretch where this house is located also probably gets slightly less traffic than other stretches of Chesterbrook because some of the east-bound traffic diverts onto N. Albemarle first, which intersects with Glebe further south.

Love the price but my husband grew up not too far from there and immediately discarded it when I told him the address, way too busy. Too bad, for that price, I'd take the tradeoff.

He did say too busy for him but not as bad as Kirby, 123.

I think the location is reflected in the price. Chesterbrook isn't really that bad and nowhere near as busy as Kirby.

A little small and needs some updates, and has a nice yard. However, I'd check the flood plain for it, because parts of Chesterbrook flood during heavy rains, although I think it's the parts closer to Kirby.

It may be on the fema map due to flooding in that area. Also a major watershed near by.

Very small needs a lot of work

I take that road every day on my way to work. I won't want to live on that road.
Also resale would be a big issue when you decide to sell.

It's busier than I'd like. Not very walkable (but some people do it). That said, sidewalks were approved and funded and should be installed by summer 2017. It's very convenient to a lot of places, but I wish the street were quieter. Not as busy as Old Dominion or Glebe by far, but definitely some traffic.

Also hard to park on the steer if you have big parties.

Still worth it for us. Couldn't get everything we wanted and very glad we got the home/yard/schools/commute despite the busier-than-desired street.

Signed,
Chesterbrook Rd Resident

Not what you asked, but please note that this house doesn't appear to have a natural gas line. There is a line on Chesterbrook Rd, but it costs a few thousand to run to house.

House has a lot of potential- it's quite cluttered in the photos, but it's a good layout and spacious enough.

I'd make sure there was room for 3 (you, DH and a guest) cars and a turn around spot in the driveway- It's way too tough to back out on a busy road.

Backyard looks nice and fenced in- so I don't think the busy road is too big a deal because you'd prob. spend your time in the back.

You sleep in the backyard too?
I think at least two bedrooms will be facing the road.

Busier roads in FFX include Shreve, Idylwood, Cedar, Beulah, Magarity and Kirby. Arlington is full of busier roads like Military, Lorcom, Williamsburg, Yorktown, George Mason, Old Dominion, etc. All have residences. You sound like a ninny.
