Infertility Support and Discussion

I am going in for a pregnancy test tomorrow morning at SG following my second round of IVF. Of course, I was too curious and couldn't wait, so I took a home pregnancy test this afternoon. It came back positive, and I'm wondring if it could be a false positive. My discharge instructions following my transfer said not to test early because you can get a false negative due to the meds you are taking, but it says nothing about a false positive. I will know either way tomorrow but just curious if anyone has had any experience with this. Please only reply if have first hand knowledge as I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations! That sounds like good news. If you are going in for your beta tomorrow, you must be at least 10 days post transfer (because I know SG does betas really late).
I think generally the hcg from the trigger shot is out of your system in 8-10 days (so 3-5 days after a 5 day transfer). You are way past that so this is genuine! I would anticipate very good news tomorrow! |

Also, I should add---in terms of first hand knowledge---I had a negative test at 4dp5dt (so hcg trigger was out of my body) and then a positive at 5dp5dt. You are way past that so this is real!

| I hope you're right! I am 18 days post retrieval, 15 days post transfer. Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks! |

No to bust your bubble because you could be definitely pregnant and I hope that you are. I did an IUI with ovedrel. I was having pregnancy symptoms and everything. I took a pregnany test the day before my appointment with Sg and it was positive. Then I went the next day and it was negative with the blood work. Like I said lots of baby dust to you but I was really sad when I found that out, so don't get your hopes up until the doctor says something.
It didn't work with the first two IUI's and then I was going out of town so I had to skip the third IUI, but I took clomid and I was suppose to use the ovulation predicators. But they didn't work for me because I have PCOS. So I didn't try that month. But they called me in for blood work because we wanted to go throught the third IUI and I found out I was pregnant! I didn't even try. Patience is everything. Good Luck!!!!!! |

This far out, you almost never get a false positive. All the HCG from your trigger shot is gone (my research says it leaves anywhere from 7-14 days). I got my first positive home test 5 days after my transfer (and I know it was real, b/c I had been testing to see when the trigger left), every test after that got positive.
So, congratulations! I hope it sticks! (I know it is terrifying, I am almost 9 weeks along and still am nervous!) |
| Please post when you get your results, OP, I'm thinking positive thoughts for you (& me, too, as I am in the two week window) |

OP here. Thanks for the reality check (and the positive vibes). I keep telling myself not to get my hopes up, just in case. Still waiting for the results - this is so excruciating!!!!

| And the results are...POSITIVE! Thanks so much for the responses and postive thoughts. I know I still have a long way to go, but this is the first bit of good news we have had in a long, long time. Good luck, everyone! I'll be sending lots of good vibes your way. |
| Congratulations!!! |
I knew it!
