Want to ask fellow parents in my preschooler's class to help put together a book as an end-of-year gift for the teachers. Parents would interview their kids and ask questions about each teacher ("What's your favorite thing about Ms. A? What's the best thing Ms. A taught you this year?"), send them to me I'll compile the results into a book for each teacher. Maybe each kid could draw a picture and sign his/her name, since they've been working on that all year.
I'm thinking the resulting answers will be funny, and it won't cost anyone anything (we're at a Title I DCPS). Cheesy or cute? |
| I'm a preschool teacher and I would love it! |
| I'm a high school teacher and I would love it, too! |
|
Great idea! Former teacher.
Also, it might be nice to ask the parents to write a little note, too. However, it you have lots of ESOL kids that might be tough. You don't want to make people feel bad. If that is the case, is there a volunteer in the class--or an aide that could do this for them? |
| So cute and creative! I hope you can get all the kids to participate! |
|
OP, you have made my day with your positive and simple idea. Do it.
Consider also asking parents, if they have taken any photos throughout the school year, to send you copies via e-mail or snail mail if they prefer. Add those too. Parents who volunteered at a class party or any other event might have photos, or "first day of school" photos of their kids at the doors of the school, etc. What a thoughtful thing you came up with! |
| Middle school teacher and I'd love it. |
| High school teacher, and I get overjoyed getting thank you notes for writing college rec letters. This is so nice, OP, for any teacher. |
| Another HS teacher here. I would love this! My favorite gifts are hand written card and the nice words from students. |
| I would keep it forever. |
| As a parent, I'd be pissed you asked. My child has speech delays and cannot answer those questions nor can draw/color so be very uncomfortable not to participate. |
Pissed? Really? You couldn't come up with another way to express your child's feelings or memories about the class or teacher? Sheesh. |
|
OP, this would make my year, and I'm sure I would cry happy tears. A few times. I would truly cherish this forever.
So thoughtful. |
Someone could paint his hand to stamp on the page. You have a very long road ahead of you. |
What about the however many kids who are able to participate? Are you completely unable to help your child.. or submit something on your child's behalf? |
