Oil portraits of kids- how to frame, where to hang?

I just got oils done of my 2 kids - not super formal. Not sure how I should frame them or where in the house they should go. They are 12X16, horizontal. Will be bigger when framed.

Thoughts?

I'd like to get this done too. Would you mind sharing where you had them done? Do they kids sit for it? Do they work off a photo? Other? Thanks!

PS I think they should go in a formal living room, but maybe I am just thinking that b/c I had a friend growing up whose parents had oils done of her and her two sisters, and they were over the couch in their formal living room.

I would not put paintings of your children in the formal living room. Pictures of family are never appropriate there. It would be much nicer in the family room or stairs or upstairs family room.
