Dear DCUMs, I could use some advice and words of experience. Our pediatrician has noticed a few times, and said again today, that our son's foreskin is tight and doesn't allow his penis to come out fully. She suggested today that we see a pediatric urologist about it. I was hoping to get some feedback from all of the knowledgeable moms on this site. Has anyone else gone through this? Is this something I should worry about? I admit to being a bit naive on the subject of uncircumsized penises, so I'm not sure if the posts in the archives about foreskins not retracting fully are relevant here? Thanks, Erica |
Not much help here, but I thought a foreskin is not supposed to retract until they are like 2 or 3 years old...? |
I agree with PP. While I have no experience with un-circ'd boys, from everything I've read the foreskin should not retract (or be manually retracted) for several years. |
Agree, it's not supposed to allow the penis to come out for several years. |
My ped told us it could take up to 4 or 5 years, although 2-3 is most common. At 13 months, it is totally normal for the foreskin to be tight and you shouldn't try to loosen it. |
