Maddux for Girls

Wondering if any parents on this thread had a girl at The Maddux School and what impact you felt the heavy ratio of boys to girls made on your daughter's development.

Surprisingly little. I was concerned when we started Maddux, but it hasn't ended up being an issue.

There is a weekly girls group that involves all the girls across all grades (not sure if the pre-schoolers participate, but everyone else) that work on conversation skills. This is a highlight of the week for my daughter. Otherwise, her closest friends are boys.

We do things that expose her to girl groups -- for example, camp and girl scouts -- but I don't know how necessary that is.

Most SN schools often have more boys than girls b/c boys are more likely to have ADHD (and diagnosed ADHD), speech delays, and ASD.

We had a friend whose DD went to Maddux and loved it.

SN schools generally are about 75% boys.

We haven't thought it's a big issue, and she hasn't mentioned the issue. There are enough girls for her to be friends with, and the cross-school "girls group" is nice. The main consequence is that her two best girl friends were essentially inevitable rather than chosen from a large group of options. But at that age how much does that matter anyway? They're nice kids and she has fun with them.
