Car trip to NY with 2 kids...when to leave?

We're driving up to NY with our toddler and baby. They have different nap times (1 midday nap for toddler; an a.m. and a p.m. nap for baby). My question for those who have done this frequently, what time of day is best to leave for a 4 hour drive to NY?

I've done this a few times and my DH and I prefer to do the drive at night. We leave around 7:30pm-8:00pm once most of the rush hour traffic has ended and have a fairly smooth drive along 95. The kids usually sleep pretty well during the trip. The older one does get a little cranky when we get there, but is usually pretty good about going back to sleep. It works for us and beats the complaining that my 2.5 year old will make about wanting to get out of the car in the day time!
