Can current or former parents give me a sense of the school? What will the new building mean for the school? Larger classes, change in curriculum or offerings? What does the GW partnership mean? Is this a better HS than Wilson? Thanks. |
I would like to know as well; and satisfaction level at the current school. |
School Without Walls is not a new school nor is it a new patrnership. The school partners with GW and Howard and I think UDC? You have to have a 3.0 to get in and complete an application. It is a specialized very well regarded school with 100% graduation rates! |
I think there's a new building in the works or recently opened, but the same program. New facilities often increase applications. It looks great, I'm considering it for my DC, now in MS. Terrific website. |
Is there any 'in boundary' protocol for SWW, or do all students go through this acceptance process? I could not quite tell from the website. |
It's completely magnet. There is no "in boundary." |
That's nice; I wonder why this is so unusual in DC. I wish Charter Schools could follow a magnet model. |
It's not actually that unusual for high schools in DC. There are at least 5 high schools that are all magnet or partially magnet: SWW, Banneker, Ellington, Wilson, and McKinley. I think Bell is magnet or part-magnet, too. |
