Restaurant recommendation DuPont

Two friends from out of town are here. Have been eating at kid friendly places for so long I'm out if the loop. Ethnic would be good. With nice ambiance so we can chat!

I really like the Greek Murayo on Connecticut.

Price range? Formality (as in...do you want to wear jeans? Need a reservation?)

Little Serow on 17th Street would fit your bill, only problem is you never know if you can get in (no reservations and you have to put your name in when they open at 5 or 5:30). But it's family style Thai, prix fixe, very casual but fantastic food. Apparently some of the most authentic Thai Food in the Country.

Sushi Taro also has very good high-end Japanese but you would not need to dress up. And they take reservations.

I would say Iron Gate or DGS. Dupont is just not full of great choices -- if you don't mind the hike over to 14th St, there's a ton of places.

Agora is nice.

I think Iron Gate is a great idea.

Iron Gate looks pretty expensive? Am I looking at the wrong menu?

Perhaps you're looking at the "tasting menu"? The bar/carriageway menu has small plates that are in the $8-15 range and some entrees ("family style") that are generally ~$25 pp.
