Infant care recommendations in SW/SE Waterfront area

Any recommendations for non-gov centers or in-home care providers for an infant in the SW/SE waterfront area? We are on waitlists at a handful of Gov centers in the area, and have checked the OSSE to no avail. We are open to, and researching nanny-shares as well.

There are almost no licensed providers in the area, as you saw on the OSSE list. I looked at Growth Spurts (60 I St. SW) and it had pros and cons. I do think they have space though. When Bambini posted a few months ago saying they were looking for space to open a second location, I emailed to suggest SW! There is definitely demand. I heard that a couple of the developments currently being planned in the area could have day care, but that probably won't happen by the time you need it.

There's hardly anything out there. Your best bet is Alexandria or the Hill.

Yeah, I've heard the new development on the St Matthews site is supposed to include a daycare but they seem far from even breaking ground on that one. It's a pretty easy area of nannies to get to, so that might be a good option and there's a SW moms google group (check the Southwester for sign up details) that might be a way to find another interested family, if you want to share. But, while there are a couple of good, local nursery school/preK options, these days, infant care is hard.

There is something in the church on M and S. Capitol. I have seen the sign, but I can't remember what it said--if it was preschool or daycare. Also, there is a childcare center at HHS.
