Gitano means a lot of thigs in Spain. First of all is a minority ethnic group (gypsis). Which, by the way, suffers a lot of discrimination in Spain and all the world in general. It also can be a dress, the flamenco costume/dress. And also can be (bc like I said, the gypsies suffer from prejudice and discrimination) a slur. If you said to someone "you are very gitano" its definitely not a good thing, at least you're calling him trickster or something like that. Or if you said about someone that "seems like a gitano" probably you are saying that she/he is dirty and careless.

So...Even being Spanish, it is wrong to use the word gypsy or their culture. In the end, it is cultural appropriation. In fact, Rosalía herself has been criticized for this. And she is Spanish. I LOOOVVVEEE a good scam artist story. Elizabeth Holmes is the subject of endless fascination for me. If anyone else is into podcasts, I recommend these scammer podcasts:

Me too! Elizabeth was a time sink for me too, so no Hillary's no different. There were several documentaries made about Elizabeth, there must be so many of us cat people to watch them. (ha ha).

Exactly. Wasn’t there a really popular book a few years back about a woman who almost married a scammer? The book was all about why we’re so fascinated and how so many of us fall for the con. Psychologically it’s fascinating. I’m also fascinated by the response - the doubling down, the evasion, the refusal to see or admit wrongdoing. The inability to just say sorry. It’s so interesting. Especially when coming from people who have espoused a lot of values that they seem very happy to throw out of the window when their own backs are against the walls.

I don’t hate her or wish her harm. I followed her for a while and actually think she’s beautiful. Cuckoo but very pretty. She seems quite sweet and well-meaning. I also think she’s a little tone deaf and it doesn’t surprise me that she doesn’t understand how she could have upset people. I don’t begrudge anybody being proud of their body but anyone with even the slightest bit of sensitivity could see why the ‘I’m just trying to show the world what a postpartum body looks like’ shtick was going to grate.

I feel for her. I think this must be excruciating. And I also think she has to cop to a mistake made and apologize. Firstly because it’s the right thing and secondly because the Daily Mail et al aren’t going to drop it until she does.

I don't find Hillary at all attractive, but she's not horrible looking. I don't think she is suffering at all, she seems narcissistic. The reaction she had was so odd, a classic symptom.

It worked for me to cut and paste exactly that into the search bar. First result. All the she is so kind post lead me back to thinking that she did this solely as a ploy to land a rich man. Maybe Alec all along. Maybe she was tying it on and Alec was the richest guy who truly fell for it (and the persona) so she just kept digging and eventually (one, two? kids in) he caught on and perpetuating it was equally important to his ego and wallet and both figured they were better off doubling down than backing away from the lie.

DH and I learned the word "shitshack" from DCUM. It is commonly used in the real estate forum or to slam anyone who lives in Pimmit Hills.

+1 It’s also used as a faux brag when saying that you are poor but still bought a 1.2M sh!tshack in Arlington that you haven’t updated yet. It’s a common word on this site.
